Summary

I worked on several Skype teams. Initially, I was part of the team that built and prepared Skype for the Windows 10 launch, where I adapted the existing Skype app to function as a universal app. I also designed a standalone Skype calling app and collaborated with Windows Studios to integrate Skype into Windows core universal apps. This role gave me the opportunity to work on Skype for HoloLens, where I helped build holographic elements and a Windows 10 Skype client capable of creating mixed reality annotations.

Following the Windows 10 launch, I joined the Skype for Business team. There, I adapted the high-quality Skype consumer experience for enterprise customers, helping to create a compelling and powerful business communication tool. Skype for Business would eventually evolve into Microsoft Teams.

Skype for Business

Working on the Skype HoloLens experience, I solved the unique UX challenge of asymmetrical collaboration. I designed the interface for non-HoloLens users (desktop/mobile) to interact with a HoloLens wearer’s physical environment. This included developing the toolkit for remote participants to place 3D holograms and draw annotations in the caller’s real-world space. This work required a deep understanding of spatial mapping and 2D-to-3D projection to ensure that remote assistance felt seamless and physically accurate for the person on the headset.

Skype for hololens

While working on the Skype HoloLens experience, I addressed the unique UX challenge of asymmetrical collaboration. I designed the interface enabling non-HoloLens users on desktop and mobile to interact directly with a HoloLens wearer’s physical environment. This involved creating a toolkit that allowed remote participants to place 3D holograms and draw annotations in the caller’s real-world space. To make remote assistance feel seamless and physically accurate for the headset wearer, I relied on a deep understanding of spatial mapping and 2D-to-3D projection.

Skype for windows 10

I contributed to the ground-up redesign of Skype for Windows 10, with a focus on building a truly responsive experience that felt native to the new Universal Windows Platform. I navigated the complexities of adaptive layouts, ensuring the interface stayed both functional and visually consistent across devices ranging from small-screen tablets to large-format desktops. In close partnership with engineering, I helped implement system-level features like integrated notifications and live tiles, reinforcing Skype’s position as a core pillar of the Windows ecosystem.
